Designer Showcase: Grandmillennial Style

There is no hotter trend than the “Granny Chic” or “Grandmillenial” style in home decor. This trend is born from a whole new generation finding the Victorian-era flourished details new again. 

The backplash tile has a feel reminiscent of centuries old patterns bringing the past into today’s fresh looks. The window is also a European-inspired French casement that opens without a stationary center munton. This allows for a wide open view.

The yin and yang of the Grandmillenial style is to make sure to add modernity to keep the unexpected twist happening throughout the design. We featured a modern thin countertop with a modern stainless sink and then added a traditional bridge faucet to marry the centuries of style together.

Another twist on style is the rustic feel of the cabinetry, hardware and light fixture. All of these industrial elements are from the recent past decades so they are an unusual blend with more delicate pattern trends.

As far as decor goes, this environment was chock full of “found” elements from a number of resources. We focused on new pieces such as the handleless cups, matte black vase and enameled metal bowl to stay firmly footed in today’s current decor.
