What’s trending in bathroom design? Black and gold, that’s what. Black is one of the top color trends in home design right now. It’s a classic. It’s the little black dress in the room. It’s a trend we can all easily embrace without throwing out all the rest of our decor. Black goes with every color scheme, so it’s easy to work into a design.

The gold accents are the touch of Hollywood Regency that makes everything in the room just a little bit more special. Matte gold accents are even better with a dull finish that doesn’t call too much attention to itself.

Gold faucets, gold lighting, gold hardware are all expected in today’s design. What’s unexpected here are the gold pieces layered into the geometric design. It’s luxe, and it’s one of our most liked designs. This bathroom was so popular it was recently featured on the cover of Tile Magazine’s 2019 Gold issue.

Matte black finishes on faucets are also a big trend that continues to create waves of popularity. Every colorway is made chic with just a touch of black, and these flat finishes are nicely stand out next to other surface textures.

Larger format wall tile is also on trend to modernize and simplify pattern on the wall. Pale taupe colorways that can blend into grey or into warm tones are also a classic transitional way to update your bath.

The behind the scenes story here was how much this color shifted as the light changed. Sometimes it was the softest pale gray, and then at other times it looked almost taupe. This Painted Ember Glaze cabinet color is a new favorite of ours. It goes with everything!

What’s new in tile is a twist on the subway patterns. This marble mesh mounted tile is a timeless classic. By blending the black and white together it creates a wall covering effect as a bathroom focal point wall. Touches of black marble add a geometric pattern that updates the expected bricked subway pattern.

Tub surrounds made from quartz are also on trend with a simple mitered edge. Without grout to stain over time this type of tub surround is super durable and a modern way to install a drop-in tub.  The number one tub style today is a free-standing tub style, and this allows for that type of look with a tub ledge to for bath products and soap.

Pale wood anyone? The hottest trend in wood vanities today is a pale colored wood. Here we designed self-close drawers with the most popular shaker door style.

We created a floating vanity here because it creates the illusion of more open space. We also love the twist of the classic herringbone tile with an angled chevron. Again, another graphic element that feels more luxurious.

Adding transitional wide-spread faucets also gives the look modernity with symmetry. We are big believers in simple repetitive elements, and the gold highlights the symmetry of the sink areas.

Cool tones are very popular, and this was one of our most liked bathrooms of the entire year on Instagram. We think the reason why is that beautiful navy blue tile pops with a pale gray cabinet and all the brass accents.

Navy is a hot trend color for 2020. It’s still considered a neutral if deep and dark in tone. Mixed with grey and white it becomes synonymous with natural hues found in bodies of water.

One of our moments of hesitation was with this solid surface countertop color. It’s Golden Sail, and at first I wasn’t sure about the subtle warm tones within the pattern. It was such a happy day to see the whole look come together with the gold. It was the perfect choice.

Just a final note about this floor - we love it! I wasn’t sure how much I liked the pattern until we saw in our space. It is reminiscent of the parquet floors of the past, but with marble it is so stunning. We will definitely use this tile in another application again!
